COMMON QUESTIONS.
HONEST ANSWERS.
Are you affiliated with any dealership?
No. Auto Imports is an independent automotive repair facility in Edmonton and is not owned by or affiliated with a vehicle manufacturer or dealership network. We have served Edmonton drivers since 1958; learn more on our About Us page. Auto Imports also participates in the CAA/AMA Approved Auto Repair Service program; see the AMA/CAA AARS information for current program details.
Do you work on all vehicle makes, or European brands only?
European vehicle service and repair is a major focus at Auto Imports, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover. We also service many Asian and domestic vehicles. Browse our Brands page to see the makes we currently feature, or contact us with your year, make, model and concern.
Do you offer a warranty on repairs?
Parts supplied and installed by Auto Imports receive a minimum 1-year or 20,000-km parts and labour warranty, subject to applicable terms and exclusions. Your service advisor can explain the coverage that applies to a specific repair. For related information about parts selection, see our OEM & Genuine Parts page and Why OEM Parts Matter.
What does AMA Approved Auto Repair Service mean for me?
Auto Imports participates in the AMA Approved Auto Repair Service program, part of the CAA network. AMA publishes the current program standards and member benefits, including information about participating repair facilities. Review the official AMA/CAA Approved Auto Repair Service information for the latest details, and see our About Us page for more about Auto Imports.
What are your hours and location?
Auto Imports is located at 9904 75 Avenue NW in Edmonton, Alberta. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and closed Saturday and Sunday. See our Contact page for current contact details, directions and booking options.
Do you perform autobody or collision repair?
No. Auto Imports focuses on mechanical repair, maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, tires and related automotive services rather than collision/body repair. See our Services page for the work we currently offer.
What if my exact model isn’t listed on your brand pages?
Our website highlights many of the vehicles and repair concerns we service, but it does not list every model. Start with our Brands page. If your exact model is not shown, contact us with the year, make, model and concern so our team can confirm whether we can help.
Do you use OEM parts or aftermarket?
Depending on the vehicle and repair, Auto Imports uses quality OEM or OEM-equivalent parts where appropriate. Part selection considers the vehicle application, manufacturer requirements and repair needs. Read more on our OEM & Genuine Parts page and our article Why OEM Parts Matter.
Does your staff hold OEM-specific training?
Our technical team includes experienced automotive professionals with extensive hands-on knowledge of European, Asian and domestic vehicles. We represent manufacturer-specific training or credentials only where they can be documented. Learn more about Auto Imports and browse the brands we service.
Can Auto Imports work on my vehicle if it’s under warranty?
In many cases, routine maintenance and repairs can be performed by an independent repair facility, but warranty requirements vary by manufacturer, vehicle and repair. Review your warranty terms and confirm specific coverage requirements with the manufacturer or warranty provider. Auto Imports can provide documentation for work we perform. For a broader comparison, see Independent vs Dealer Repair Edmonton.
Do you offer walnut blasting for carbon buildup?
Yes. Auto Imports offers walnut blasting for appropriate direct-injection engine applications. Because rough running, misfires and performance concerns can have several causes, diagnosis may be recommended before carbon cleaning is performed. See our dedicated Walnut Blasting service page for service information, and our Computer Diagnostics page if the vehicle first needs diagnosis.
Do you replace windshields?
Yes. Auto Imports offers windshield replacement service in Edmonton. Availability and the exact repair process depend on the vehicle and glass required. See our Windshield Replacement Edmonton page or contact us with your vehicle information.
How do I choose a trustworthy auto repair shop in Edmonton?
Look for clear estimates, qualified technicians, transparent communication, documented warranty coverage, established local history and a repair process that explains what was diagnosed before recommending work. Learn more about Auto Imports, serving Edmonton since 1958, browse our services, and review how an independent repair facility compares with dealership service.
How do your labour rates compare to the dealership?
Repair cost depends on the vehicle, diagnosis, labour required and parts used. As an independent facility, Auto Imports provides an alternative to dealership service and supplies an estimate before authorized work proceeds. For a meaningful comparison, compare the complete recommended repair rather than labour rate alone. Read our Independent vs Dealer Repair Edmonton guide.
Do you provide a written quote before starting work?
Auto Imports provides an estimate for recommended work and obtains authorization before proceeding with repairs. If additional work is identified, we discuss it with you before proceeding. For an overview of the work we perform, visit our Services page.
How is an independent repair facility different from a dealership?
Independent repair facilities and dealerships can differ in ownership, repair options, parts choices, communication, specialized experience and manufacturer-specific resources. The best choice depends on the vehicle and service required. Our detailed Independent vs Dealer Repair Edmonton guide explains the differences and where Auto Imports fits.
What diagnostic equipment does Auto Imports use?
Auto Imports uses professional diagnostic equipment to test vehicle systems, retrieve diagnostic information and support fault diagnosis on the vehicles we service. Capability varies by manufacturer, model and system, so the diagnostic approach is matched to the concern. See our Computer Diagnostics page and Signs Your Vehicle Needs a Diagnostic Check.
Do you diagnose a problem before recommending replacement?
Yes. When a symptom requires diagnosis, the goal is to identify the cause before recommending the appropriate repair. Similar symptoms can have multiple causes, so testing the affected system can help avoid unnecessary parts replacement. Learn more about our diagnostic approach and read Signs Your Vehicle Needs a Diagnostic Check.
What information should I provide when booking a repair?
Provide the vehicle year, make and model, a description of the problem, warning messages, unusual noises, when the symptom occurs and any recent repair history that may be relevant. That context helps us determine the appropriate starting point. Use our Contact page when you are ready to reach the service team.
Do I need to go to a dealership for European vehicle repair?
Not necessarily. Depending on the vehicle and repair, an experienced independent repair facility may be an appropriate option. Some manufacturer-specific warranty, programming, recall or specialized procedures may still require dealership involvement. Browse our European brand pages and read Independent vs Dealer Repair Edmonton for a balanced comparison.
How long does an inspection take?
Inspection time depends on the vehicle, the type of inspection and any issues identified. When you book, our team can provide an estimated completion time for the inspection being performed. See our Vehicle Inspection services for available inspection types.
Do you provide written inspection reports?
We provide inspection findings so you can understand the condition of the vehicle and any items that may require attention. Our team can explain the findings and recommended next steps. Learn more about our inspection services.
